Getting your LinkedIn profile to 100%

LinkedIn have been making changes.  You may have been proud of your 100% complete profile only to now discover that it’s at 90%.  What happened?

As of 14th February 2012 LinkedIn have changed the way they calculate completeness.  GONE is the need to have a minimum of 3 recommendations but IN is the requirement to have 50+ connections in order to get your profile to 100% complete.  I know that many of you will breathe a sigh of relied that you don’t have to ask for those embarrassing recommendations but remember that just because they are not REQUIRED by LinkedIn doesn’t mean that they are not extremely useful and impressive additions to your profile.

Get me to 100%

So what do you need to have on your profile now to get it 100% complete?  According to LinkedIn HQ, users with 100% complete profiles are 40 times more likely to receive opportunities through LinkedIn (I trust that they have done their homework here).  If that’s the case  it’s definitely worth getting to the 100%.

To get to 100% your profile NOW needs to have :

1. Your Industry & Location

2. Current position with description

3. Two past positions

4. Your Education

5. Your Skills – new Skills and Expertise section introduced last year

6. A profile photo  (and make it professional looking!)

7. You need to have at least 50 connections

Get updating to get to 100%.
